1948 – 2010

Gerald “Jerry” W. Parker was born in Rockford, Illinois in 1948, grew up in Illinois and moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1955. Jerry joined the Navy in 1967 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1971. He then moved to Wyoming and later to Bakersfield, California and back to Idaho Springs in 1982 and then to Evergreen, Colorado. He owned and operated Clear Creek Refrigeration from 1982 up until his death, and always offered a welcoming and warm smile to anyone that met him.

Jerry was an avid sportsman; playing softball and bowling but his favorite pastime was being on the golf course.

On March 29, Jerry succumbed to pancreatic cancer and peacefully passed away at home in Evergreen surrounded by loved ones. A memorial for Jerry will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 17701 W. 16th Ave., Golden on Tuesday, April 6 at noon. A reception will immediately follow the service and internment at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, at 2:15 p.m. with everyone welcome to attend to celebrate Jerry’s life.

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge –

That myth is more potent than history.

I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts –

That hope always triumphs over experience,

That laughter is the only cure for grief.

And, I believe that love is stronger than death.

I knew Jerry , liked him and played in few tournaments..He could really hit the ball..A quick story.. I was having lunch at keys on the green golf course in Evergreen. When Jerry walked into the Bar area…we said Hello.. and Jerry ordered a Double Jack Daniels ..held his glass high and then downed the shot. I said wow Jerry you were thirsty. And Jerry said he just had a hole in one on the final hole coming to the club house…. I said Jerry "thats a par 4…" and He said '' I did it in one…but no one saw it….go in…… Y:es some one saw it go in Jerry…. rest in Peace. Jim Collins

I posted a comment, but it did not come thru? Played Golf with jerry in a few tournaments around the area. I was having lunch at Keys on the green in Evergreen. Jerry came into the Bar Area and ordered a double shot of good whiskey, raised his glass high into the air and downed the shot. I ask Jerry whats the occasion for the Double shot:.? Jerry said he "just had a hole in one on the last hole of the golf course on the front 9. .I said that hole is a par 4 and is over 400 yards long. He said " I know" I was playing alone and no one saw the shot." so I needed to celebrate with myself.:". Some one was watching…….rest in peace…….Jim Collins
