Central City hosts final stop of Rides & Rods weekend
Benefiting Autism Speaks
Although the weather provided less than favorable conditions, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the motorcycles and hot rods completing the entire Scavenger Run from INVESCO Field to Central City on Saturday, September 12. Raising over $10,000, the five-stop Scavenger Run was a highlight of the 2009 Rides and Rods Weekend benefiting Autism Speaks.
Through Central City and Fortune Valley’s support, participants enjoyed a live band, food and vendors. Before the weather turned, Mayor Pro Tem Bob Spain awarded best ribbons to the bikes and rods.
As the skies darkened, the Redline Rockets and DJ Digi kept the party upbeat with a great music selection. Through the endurance of Crook’s Palace and Trinity Irish Pub, participants enjoyed a variety of hot food. The 2009 Rides & Rods Weekend Steering Committee extends a heartfelt thank you to Central City’s Greg Moates, Fortune Valley’s Joe Behm, and all the Gilpin residents who visited Main Street during our party. We also thank:
- Vendor Krystal Wolf
- Volunteers Connie Hansell, Shelley Coons and Tracy Krug
- Donor Larry Krug of PharmaStrategies, LLC
