62nd Annual Fine Art Exhibition public reception kicks off season

05/29/2008 - The Gilpin County Arts Association announces its 62nd Annual Fine Art Exhibition, running from June 1 thru August 15 in the Central City Gallery located at 117 Eureka Street, Central City, CO. The exhibition includes work by artists living in the Rocky Mountain West and is inclusive of all mediums. Jurors were selected to adjudicate the entries and to select award winners.  Art included in the Gilpin County Arts Association Fine Art Exhibition will also be on display in the Terrace Room at Central City Opera’s Teller House adjacent to the Opera House at 120 Eureka St.  For additional information, call the Gallery at 303-582-5952 or go to www.gilpinarts.org.

  The opening reception for the 62nd Annual Fine Art Exhibition will be held on Saturday, May 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central City Gallery. The reception is free, open to the public, and will include appetizers, generously donated by Ameristar Casino, and wine for attendees. New this year will also be a silent auction of art work donated by members of the GCAA, the sale of plants, donated by Tagawa Gardens, potted in hand crafted pots designed by member artists, and cupcakes will be available for just $1 for attendees to decorate with their own artistic flare at the event.

Included are artists living in the Rocky Mountain West: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah & Wyoming.

Artist Awards

A minimum of $2,000 in cash awards will be given at the discretion of the jurors. Award selection will be announced after presentation on May 31.  

  Located in Historic Washington Hall, across Eureka Street from the Central City Opera House, the Gilpin County Arts Association exhibits some of the best artists from the Rocky Mountain region. The 5-room gallery is comprised of 3,600 sq. ft. of renovated, modern display space and is open to the public during the summer and early fall months. The Association was founded in 1947 by Margaret Kerfoot Jennison; Colorado artist Vance Kirkland served on the Board of Directors for twelve years following its inception.
