Gilpin County Track awards banquet Susan Ball 05/22/2008 - The Gilpin County Track team had their award banquet at Chili's last week. Coach Kellie Bayne said “The girls had a great year. They each accomplished something that they never thought they would be able to do. I am proud of them all.” Kellie had presented all five girls with a Varsity Track letter along with special individual awards, of which only the track coach and team understood. Kacey Gould earned the Doughnut eating Queen award for eating the most doughnuts over the past four years at track meets, without gaining any weight. Sara Vaughn earned the Sunbathing Queen award for always sun tanning without ever getting too sun burnt. Megan Ball earned the Wiggle Butt Queen award for making the relay team laugh with the wiggle butt dance without messing the relay up too badly. Stephanie Pilcher earned the iPod Queen award for making everyone's iPods work during practice and in the car while traveling to each meet. Ciara Ryan-Todd earned the Nickname Queen award for coming up with the most unusual nicknames without being rude. Bill Vaughn (father of Sara) earned the Snack & Drink King award for always bringing a cooler full of drinks and energy bars to the track meets. He also got the Limon Badgers sweatshirt as a joke. Kellie also thanked all the parents for their support and the many hours of driving to the meets each weekend. The Girls thanked Coach Bayne by giving her some bath salts and many little gifts as inside jokes that only the team would understand. Sara and Kacey will be graduating this year and will be missed.
