Fireside Chats Scheduled

02/15/2007 - Commissioner Jeanne Nicholson will be hosting fireside chats once a month from 7 to 8 PM at the Gilpin Community Center in the lounge. Everyone is welcome to participate in discussions about Gilpin County issues. Commissioner Nicholson said "Gilpin County citizens should have a convenient forum to learn about community issues and to engage in meaningful dialogue with their elected officials."  She added, "Many of our citizens commute to work and it is difficult for them to attend the Board of County Commissioner meetings because they are held during the day. A monthly fireside chat in the evening might be a good way for citizens to exchange ideas and information with one another and an elected official. Since commissioners don't represent towns it didn't seem appropriate to call the meeting a town meeting so I thought I should call them fireside chats and hold them at the Community Center,” Commissioner Nicholson explained.

  Bring your concerns, questions, suggestions and ideas and meet with Commissioner Nicholson and other interested citizens February 8 March 22, April 26, May 10, June 14, July 12, August 9, September 6, October 11, November 8, and December 13.
