01/25/2007 - The Gilpin County High School Wrestlers had an awesome week. They attended the Clear Creek

Quad Tournament last Tuesday. Doug Ball won 4-0, Dan Levesque won 3-0, David Gerhardus won 2-1, Aaron Williams won 1-1, David Yerkman was 0-2 and Aaron Newsome was 0-2.

  Saturday was a great day for the team; they went to the Kiowa Invitational, where they were up against 13 schools. As a team they took 9th place and five out of six Gilpin wrestlers placed. Aaron Williams at 112 lbs. was 0-2; David Yerkman at 119 lbs. took 4th place with 2-2; Austin Bell at 135 lbs. took 3rd place with 3-1; Dan Levesque at 140 lbs. took 3rd place with 3-1; Doug Ball at 145 lbs. took 3rd place with 3-1; and David Gerhardus at 160 lbs. took 4th place with 2-2. This week they will be at the Stratton Invitational. This is the last tournament before the 2A Regionals, which will take place in Akron on February 9th and 10th.
