Marijuana bust

2/23/2006 - On Thursday, February 16, 2006 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence of 212 Genevas Way, unincorporated Gilpin County, for a possible marijuana growing operation.

Items found and seized are one hundred eighty three (183) suspected marijuana plants, items used for a plant growing operation, processed suspected marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia along with over $14,000 cash.

The occupants of the residence are Edward Andrew Stotts-D.O.B.-05/19/72, John Richard Bell-D.O.B.-01/30/68 and Michelle Lynne Cook-D.O.B.-03/12/80. Mr. Stotts was arrested on the suspicion of unlawful cultivation of marijuana, unlawful possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Bell was arrested on suspicion of unlawful cultivation of marijuana and unlawful possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. Ms. Cook was arrested on suspicion of unlawful cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This case has been forwarded to the Jefferson/Gilpin County District Attorney’s Office.
