Gilpin Wrestling at Regionals

2/23/2006 -   The Gilpin County Wrestlers traveled to Akron for their Regional Tournament on Feb. 10^th and 11th. This was their last tournament, which determines who qualifies to go to State. Even though the wrestlers did very well in their matches, they will not be going to State this year.

  Austin Bell (junior)  took 6th in the 135lb weight class. He had 2 wins and 2 losses. He finishes his season with the record of 21-11.

  Doug Ball (junior) took 7th in the 145lb weight class. He had 1 win and 2 losses. He finishes his season with the record of 14-13.

  David Gerhardus (freshman) was in the 171lb weight class. He had 2 losses. He ends his season with the record of 1-23.

  Speaking for the parents of these boys and their small fan club, we are very proud of all their hard work and determination. Look for these boys at State next year. We also want to thank the coaches, Ryan Witzel and Scott Witzel, with help from Royce McClain and the managers Krystal Baker and Kristine Route, for all their time and support.
