Central City Council

Ben Dugan

2/16/2006 - At the recent February Central City Council meeting, two items were set for public hearing on February 21st. There was an ordinance involving the cleanup of illegal methamphetamine drug laboratories, and an ordinance concerning new penalties for owners of vicious animals.

There was a presentation by Rick Fendel of the Upper Clear Creek Watershed Association in an attempt to get Central City to join the organization. Annual dues are $2,000 and it did not appear that the Council was interested.

A certificate of appreciation for her work in promoting Main Street Central was awarded to Barbara Thieleman.

HPC recommendations for revising the sign code were sent back to City staff for further workings and it was the general consensus to wait and see what HPC decides on the matter.

A second amendment concerning the 2006 Fleet Maintenance Agreement between Black Hawk and Central City was approved. Central City has utilized Black Hawk’s fleet maintenance department for vehicle maintenance needs. Black Hawk works on vehicles based on need and ability. The arrangement has saved Central City time and money when scheduling repairs with Black Hawk.

Central City also agreed and approved a request for action to pay Black Hawk $10,000 for small equipment and flower maintenance for 2006.

Next scheduled council meeting for Central City is February 28, 2006.
