Education Advocate Announces Candidacy for Re-Election to the State Board of Education 2/9/2006 - Evie Hudak, a current member of the State Board of Education, brings her expertise as a parent, educator, and public policy advocate as she seeks re-election. Through her position on the State Board representing the 2nd Congressional District, she has been instrumental in stimulating public education policy in Colorado by promoting early childhood education, safe and healthy school environments, parent involvement, increased opportunities for students, and improved academic achievement. Evie’s experience on the State Board of Education and her background in teaching and in PTA have enabled her to ask the tough questions of educators, policy-makers, and research experts. She continually seeks input from various community groups and practitioners by attending numerous educational public forums. Her energetic, enthusiastic style encourages critical thinking and creative solutions to today’s educational problems. “The challenges facing the State Board in the future will involve closing achievement gaps, increasing graduation rates, managing schools of choice, promoting early childhood education, and maintaining rigorous educational standards,” Hudak contends. “We have only just begun these efforts, and there is so much more work to do. I am dedicated to furthering this work so that every child will reach his or her potential and be prepared for a global world.” Dale Gatz, past President of Jefferson County Education Association, asserts, “Evie knows the details of Colorado school law and its implications. Being an advocate for public education is her number one focus.” Please join Evie Hudak at one of these events as she kicks off her campaign for re-election: ADAMS COUNTY: Joint event with Karen Middleton, 7th CD BOULDER COUNTY: Sat., Feb. 11, 4:30–6:00 p.m. CLEAR CREEK COUNTY: Saturday, Feb. 11, 1:00–3:00 p.m. EAGLE COUNTY: Sunday, Feb. 12, 3:00-5:00 p.m. JEFFERSON COUNTY: Friday, Feb. 17, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Contact Hudak for more information at 303-420-6235, email at evie@hudak.org, or online at www.hudak.org.
