Coffee House letter

1/5/2006 - The “Place on Dory Hill” Coffee House opened January 15, 2005. We were enthusiastic, excited and eager to have created a homey, community focused, positive environment that would encourage and support community connection. We were very pleased that the community embraced this concept and we feel that all who entered the Coffee House felt this spirit. Steve and I, having never run a coffeehouse, had no idea of the work involved and how it would take over our lives, literally. We romantically thought it would be relaxing, fun and enjoyable. "Waking up," we realized that we had no time for what is most important in our lives, our family and friends. Overworked and exhausted, we have decided to close the Coffee House at the end of January 2006. We look forward to taking time to relax and then focus on our individual career paths of which we both love--Steve with computers and me with my psychotherapy practice.

  Now that mid-Gilpin county has this very special spot, we’re hoping that we can pass the baton to someone that will continue to embrace a Coffee House with an emphasis on love for community. We know that this endeavor needs the tender loving care of people that have a passion for this business. It’s time for Steve and I to move aside to open up new possibilities for others better suited for this dream. We are entertaining various possibilities, but would really like to find someone interested in continuing the business. This will all take time, yet we plan to close the Coffee House January 29th.  We will have a closing thank you party on January 29th from 11:00-3:00, as a celebration of community spirit. Free cake and coffee will be served. Come join us!!

  Note: Anyone that has a gift certificate for the Coffee House, please come in and use it. If you haven’t used it before January 29th you will be refunded your money by calling 303-582-3025. We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

- Stitch and Bitch Group Tuesdays 9:00-11:00
- Women’s Book Group: Last Wednesday of the month at 2:00
