Yancy named member of IIMC Master Municipal Clerk Academy 1/20/2005 - BLACK HAWK, Colo. - Deborah S. Yancy, CMC, City Clerk of the City of Black Hawk, CO, has been accepted as a member in the Master Municipal Clerk Academy Program of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC). The Academy is the professional body of municipal clerks who have continued their level of education achievement beyond the attainment of the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk Award. IIMC President Elizabeth H. Kiss, MMC, Municipal Clerk of East Brunswick Township, New Jersey, announced, “I am honored to welcome Ms. Yancy as a member in the Master Municipal Clerk Academy. She is dedicated to municipal service and an inspiration to all members of our profession.” In order to become a member of the Academy, a person must first attain the IIMC Certification (CMC) designation, attend a minimum of 36 hours of graduate courses at an IIMC recognized municipal clerks academy or complete similar educational programs relating to the responsibilities of the municipal clerk’s office. Specific professional participation must be achieved, such as leadership in national and state associations, attendance at seminars and conferences, and professional writings and accomplishments. To date, approximately 15% of 10,300 members of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks have qualified for the Master Municipal Clerk Academy status. Ms. Yancy has been employed with the City of Black Hawk since June 1998, where she serves in the position of City Clerk. Previous municipal service includes serving six years as Deputy Clerk with the City of Northglenn. She completed an IIMC-approved Certification Program, and received her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation in July 1994. Continuing her professional education, she has completed IIMC-approved Academy Programs. She has also completed other courses, seminars, and conferences relating to local government. Active in professional affiliations, she is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and serves on the Conference policy Committee. She serves as Vice President with the Colorado Municipal Clerks Association and is a member of Colorado Women in Government. Ms. Yancy has been a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks since July 1994.
