County News By Roger
Baker We’re doing more than changing the calendar this week in Gilpin County government, we’re having a changing of the guard, as well. Two Commissioners who have served the County for eight years are coming off the Board, and two newly elected ones are coming on. Change is always stressful for those going through it, and I’m sure this transition will have its stressful moments as well. But everyone is trying hard to make the turnover as painless as possible. The Commissioners didn’t have a public meeting Tuesday, but instead held a work session (still open to the public) where new Commissioners and old could sit down together and talk about what needs to be done in the weeks, months, and years ahead. Next Tuesday, January 4th, will be the last full meeting for the outgoing Commissioners, Web Sill and Ken Eye. The meeting (which should be short) will start at 10 o’clock, and a reception to honor them for their contributions will follow at 11. I hope some of you we be able to join us.
