Business slows at jail Clara Aucoin Cold weather may bring slower business to the jail. That is what the numbers reported in the Detentions Division Month End summary for the Month of November seems to indicate. Total books for the Month were 63, with 55 of those being men. Detox holds for the month added up to four and the average meal cost for the month was $2.51. For the jai, the overall average daily population was 46.79, of which 13 were gaming related, 2 were domestic related, 16 were DUI arrests and 3 were DWAI arrests. There were 10 Gilpin County residents jailed. The Jail completed 18 transports, with 1,284 miles driven for transports using the car, and a total of 1,327 miles driven during the transports. The arrests for the month were broken down with three from Black Hawk, zero from Central City, nine from State Patrol, 11 from Division of Gaming, and 40 from the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. Income generated by the Detentions Division included $100 for housing for Transportation Company, $552 for work release, $45.50 for meal tickets; $12 for fingerprints for gaming, $384 for bond fees collected, $1,001.35 for booking fees, $50 for urinalysis fees, for a total of $2,144.85. The Gilpin County Combined Victim Services Department serves both cities and the county. For the month of October, the following report was issued. There were 24 new cases from Black Hawk in October, with a total of 26 new clients. That number was added to the open/active cases from previous months, which included 30 additional cases for Black Hawk. For Central City, there were three new cases with five clients that joined three cases open from previous months. Seven new cases came in from Gilpin County, with eight clients. Those cases were added to the open/active cases from previous months, which included 21 cases and 26 clients. Two additional cases came in from other sources. Of the total, 29 of the cases involved Gilpin County residents, 12 were non residents, and 31 of the cases were gaming related.
