Candidate revenues and expenditures recap from Election 2004

All candidate contributions and expenditures are public information, and all must be reported to the Gilpin County Clerk and Recorder’s office.  The final report was to have been filed on November 27.  The information filed with the Clerk and Recorder’s office on that date is as follows.  It may be noted, however, that not all vendors have issued billing statements and not all candidates have paid some of the billing statements they have been issued.  The figures are not final, but they are as of November 27, as provided by the Office of the Clerk and Recorder.

The income and expenditures of the candidates do not necessarily balance because according to Gilpin County Clerk and Recorder Jessica Lovingier, personal funds spent by the candidates do not have to go in and out of their committees.

Whitman commented, “The Finance Act has no way of measuring the contributions, especially nonmonetary, from the political parties. One has to factor in $5,000 for that. Also, we did contribute $175 to the Wild Land Restoration especially for the revegetation up in Jumbo Gulch and around $350 in donations to the food bank, mostly cash.”

Commissioner Jeanne Nicholson agreed that the non monetary contributions by the Democratic party for Gilpin County candidates was valued at approximately $5,000.
